Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Dolpho (“Dolpho”, “we”, “us”) is a swim planning app published by MSE Apps. This policy explains what information the Dolpho iPhone app and website collect, why, who processes it, and the choices you have.
1. Information you give us
- Onboarding answers: your swimming goals, how you'd like to feel, what makes swimming hard, confidence, recent swimming, comfortable distance and strokes, movements you'd rather avoid, swim style, rest and pace preferences, equipment, session length, pool length and units, weekly goal, preferred days and start times, and reminder choices. Every question is optional.
- Optional sensitive preferences: areas you'd like to be gentle with (for example lower back, shoulders, returning after injury, pregnancy or postpartum recovery). These are stored so you can see and edit them in your profile. They are not a medical assessment, are not shared with our AI provider, and are never used for notifications or marketing.
- Swim logs: when you log a swim — date and time, duration, distance, how it felt and an optional note. Swims recorded with Dolpho on Apple Watch also include the time of each repeat and your average heart rate for the swim. Logs can include distance per stroke, stroke counts and the number of technique drills, used for your records and badges.
- Open water route (optional): only when you start an Open water swim on Apple Watch, the watch records your GPS route during that swim. The full route is saved to Apple Health with the workout, and a simplified copy (at most 300 points) is stored with that swim log so you can see it on a map. Location is never used at any other time, for anything else, or shared with our AI provider or other third parties. Deleting the swim deletes its route.
- Your own workouts: workouts you build or save, edits you make to planned workouts, and the weekdays you pin them to.
- Apple Health (optional): if you connect Apple Health, Dolpho saves your swims to Health as swimming workouts (with the route for open water swims), and reads your pool swimming workouts (date, duration, distance and average heart rate) so swims you record elsewhere count toward your plan, records and badges. Imported swims are stored with your swim logs. Dolpho does not read any other Health data, never uses Health data for advertising or marketing, and never shares it with our AI provider or other third parties. You can turn access off anytime in iPhone Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Dolpho.
- Support messages you send us.
2. Information collected automatically
- Account identifier: an anonymous user ID created by Firebase Authentication so your plan and logs can be stored. You don't need an email address or password.
- Device details: device model, iOS version, app version and build, language/region setting and time zone — used for compatibility, support and scheduling.
- Onboarding usage: which onboarding screens were viewed, answered, skipped or left, and whether the paywall was viewed or a purchase started. These events contain the screen name and action only — never your answers.
- Plan and generation records: the workouts generated for you and technical logs (for example processing time and errors) used to keep the service reliable and to prevent abuse.
- Subscription status: whether you have an active Dolpho Premium subscription. Payments are handled entirely by Apple; we never receive your card details.
- Notification token: if you enable notifications, a push token so we can deliver reminders and check-ins.
Apart from the open water route above, we do not collect location, contacts, photos, Apple Health data beyond the pool swims described above, or advertising identifiers (IDFA), and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. How we use information
- To generate and adjust your weekly swim plan and workouts, and to verify that every workout respects your preferences.
- To show your profile, plan, progress and swim history across sessions.
- To schedule reminders you choose. Swim reminders are scheduled on your device; their text mentions only your planned swim.
- To provide subscriptions and restore purchases.
- To understand where onboarding is confusing and improve the app (using screen and action counts, not your answers).
- To provide support, keep the service secure and comply with legal obligations.
4. AI-generated workouts
Workouts are composed with the help of OpenAI's API. We send only what is needed to build a workout — for example your comfort level, session length, pool length, rest and variety preferences, and the list of allowed exercises — without your name, account identifier, device details or sensitive preferences. Every generated workout is then checked by our own rules before it is shown. Under OpenAI's API terms, API data is not used to train OpenAI's models.
5. Service providers
| Provider | Purpose | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Web Services (EU — Ireland) | Hosting our servers and database | Account ID, answers, plans, logs, device details, usage events |
| Google Firebase | Anonymous sign-in and push notifications | Account ID, push token |
| OpenAI | Composing workouts | Non-identifying workout preferences (see section 4) |
| Apple | App distribution and subscription payments | Purchase information, as described in Apple's privacy policy |
| RevenueCat (when enabled) | Subscription status management | Account ID, purchase receipts |
These providers process data on our behalf under their terms and may process it outside your country with appropriate safeguards.
6. Retention and deletion
We keep your information while you use Dolpho. You can delete it at any time in the app under Profile → Delete my data; this permanently removes your profile, plans, logs, device records and usage events from our database. Encrypted backups are kept for up to 7 days before being overwritten. Deleting your data does not cancel a subscription — manage that in your iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or Türkiye's KVKK), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. You can edit your answers anytime in the app, delete your data in the app, or contact us for any other request.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Access is limited to what is needed to run the service.
9. Children
Dolpho is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires), and we do not knowingly collect their information.
10. Health information
Dolpho provides general swim plans, not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or rehabilitation, and does not determine whether an activity is safe for any condition. If you have health concerns, please consult a qualified professional. Heart rate shown in Dolpho comes from Apple Watch and is for general fitness information only.
11. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
